China's chip import value climbed to USD 385.6 billion in 2024, with import volume of 549.2 billion units. Breaking through requires a multi-pronged approach: in R&D, focus on high-end chip technologies such as advanced process nodes and high-performance processor design; in the industry ecosystem, strengthen upstream and downstream cooperation from design and manufacturing through packaging and test; at policy level, increase support with tax incentives and R&D subsidies; and in talent development, build joint programmes between universities and industry to train professionals suited to the industry's development.
